Old Building Burns

Tonight was eventful in good 'ole Erwin, TN. Apparently the old Town Hall building was seen on fire at 7:45pm. By the time fire crews arrived, the entire building was on fire.

After our youth group meeting at the house was over, around 8:30pm, Ben took one of the guys home. While he was gone, I had Aidyn in his bouncy seat while I pumped...and the power went out! Not a good situation, haha.

Apparently a "really bad" fire, the worse Ben had ever seen, had been the cause of our power going out. We live about 2 blocks from downtown. Ben came home about the time his mom arrived. She had power and we were heading to her house. Instead, we jumped in our car and went down to check out all the action. It was actually quite scary!

The building had HUGE flames shooting out the windows and smoke and flames flying high above the roof. While we sat there watching, we heard and watched part of the building collapse within itself. Here are a few pictures that I actually took from a friend's Facebook page of the fire:

I'm pretty sure the entire building ended up burning down on the inside. I do know that more of the sides collapsed.

This apparently was the oldest building in the town of Erwin and entire Unicoi County. Also, the drama club at the local high school had been renovating the place with grant money to turn it into a theater. No one is sure how it actually started.
